The Israeli Supreme Court has decided to send Mordechai Vanunu back to jail for three months. He was released from his 18 year sentence for revealing the existence of Israel's atomic weapons in 2004 and arrested for giving interviews to foreign media in 2007.
After a long court battle he was found guilty and again sentenced to jail. His lawyers managed to have his sentence reduced to community service. In the absence of safe community service possibilities in his area the court nowdecided to impose the original sentence.

2010-04-14 Vanunu not allowed to leave Israel for another year
Mordechai Vanunu, having served 18 years in an Israeli prison for exposing Israel's nuclear weapons program, got his prohibition to leave the country prolonged with one year.
Even though he has already served his sentence, he has been living now for seven years under severe restrictions.

In a recent interview with Democracy Now, Hans Blix of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called Vanunu's treatment "unfair". In a comment in the Guardian, Mairead Corrigan-Maguire, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976, also called on Israel to let Vanunu go free.
