Donations

The Right Livelihood Award is financed by individual donors. The first one was Jakob von Uexkull. When he set up the Award in 1980, he contributed the initial capital of one million US dollars.

Since then, many people have joined him in this way of investing in a better future. Their help and generosity has maintained and strengthened the Award over the years.

"Since the earth's resources are limited, one of our most urgent priorities is to change from linear to circular consumption. This is in harmony with the motto of The Right Livelihood Award: 'Walk lightly on the earth'.

Like many other people in the Western World, I have more than I need. To make a donation to the Right Livelihood Award means giving international recognition, trust and protection to the prize and its recipients.

What can YOU do to safeguard our grandchildren's future?"
