SEKEM, Right Livelihood Award Recipient of 2003, is an Egyptian company founded by Ibrahim Abouleish. It is an outstanding example for the combination of commercial success with social and cultural development.
Three years ago, SEKEM launched one of its biggest development projects ever: The 13-villages-project, of which thousands of people have benefited so far. The project included:
Medical assistance, basic education for children, midwife training, a literacy programme for 600 women, more than 120 graduates in vocational training, a mobile waste removal system and micro-financing for small-scale businesses.

IBFAN's one million campaign | ![]() |
For three decades, the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) has campaigned in support of breastfeeding. Now they have launched a One Million Campaign to stop the push by companies towards feeding babies with milk formula, and to demand support for breastfeeding.
Everyone can sign the petition and raise a voice to support this call. The petition is going to be presented to the world leaders at the World Health Assembly later this month.
