The World Poetry Movement was founded at the International Poetry Festival of Medellìn 2011. Fernando Rendòn, director of the Medellìn Festival, is member of the coordinating committee of the World Poetry Movement.
The idea of the World Poetry Movement is to link poets, poetry initiatives and festivals while emphasising and respecting diversity and to broaden the access to poetry.

On September 24th, 2011 there will be worldwide readings of poetry co-organised by 100,00 Poets for Change and the World Poetry Movement.
