Bones that probably belong to victims of Paraguay's past dictatorship have been found - but they can't be identified. Human rights investigators simply lack the money for the necessary DNA tests.

On July 31st, UNESCO announced the inclusion of the 'Terror Files of Paraguay' in the 'Memory of the World' register of the organization.

Asunción: 16 years after the discovery of the so called "Archives of Terror", new files from the dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner were unearthed.
The basement where the files were found had been used as torture chamber by former interior minister Sabino Augusto Montanaro. Montanaro was later granted political asylum in Honduras.
"I call on the government, through the Foreign Ministry, to secure the extradition of Montanaro so that he can be brought to justice in Paraguay," Almada said.
